Lovell Jones is an Associate Dean for Research. Dr. Jones has more than 35 years of experience in addressing minority health and the health of the underserved. He is the former Director of the joint UT MD Anderson Cancer Center/University of Houston Dorothy I. Height Center for Health Equity & Evaluation Research. As a scientist, he has done extensive research into the relationship between hormones, diet and endocrine responsive tumors and has presented his work both nationally and internationally. Dr. Jones’ most notable innovation and service has been in leading think tanks and major events regarding the underserved and cancers, including the American Cancer Society South Central U.S. Regional Hearings on Cancer and the Poor, and the 1st National African Cancer Education meeting in Abuja, Nigeria. In January 2000, Dr. Jones was named the first director of the congressionally mandated Center for Research on Minority Health (CRMH), a multidisciplinary center which aims to foster research that addresses the causes of health disparities and translates scientific results back to the communities affected by those disparities; facilitates minority students to pursue careers in the biomedical sciences; and, increase recruitment and retention of minority and medically underserved populations into clinical trials. Dr. Jones served co-author of the congressional resolution designating the third full week in April as “National Minority Cancer Awareness Week.” For his work, the NIH/National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities awarded him its Director’s Award for Excellence in Health Disparities. Dr. Jones has also received the Ruth Kirschstein Diversity in Science Award and was selected as one of the top African American Scientist in America by the National Science Foundation “The HistoryMakers” (http://www.thehistorymakers.com/biography/dr-lovell-jones). Dr. Jones has been awarded approximately $40 million in research and/or educational grants, either as principal or co-principal investigator. His research has involved determining the mechanism by which natural and environmental estrogenic agents may initiate cancers in hormonally responsive tissue. A grant awarded by NIH/NCI supported the investigation of “The Women’s Health Eating and Living Study,” which examined the role of diet on the prevention and recurrence of second primaries in breast cancer survivors. A notable demonstration grant, titled “Facilitated Assistance, Research, & Outreach Services” was awarded by the Centers of Excellence for Community Partnership, Outreach, Research & Training from the National Center on Minority Health & Health Disparities and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Cancer Prevention and Treatment.

Between 1980 and 2013, Dr. Jones received more than $35 million in research funding for studies in which he was the principal investigator. During his career, Dr. Jones has received research support from the National Institutes of Health, the Rockwell Foundation, Walton Family Foundation, Kellogg Company, Kellogg Foundation, American Health Foundation, Houston Endowment, Inc., Exxon-Mobil Foundation, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and the State of Texas. Kathleen Flaherty is the Dean and Professor of Nursing at Concordia College-NY. She has expertise in nursing leadership, teaching, curriculum and program development, grant writing, and mentoring. She is nationally certified in rehabilitation nurse and nursing education. She has numerous years of nursing practice in rehabilitation, medical-surgical and pediatric nursing. Kathleen Lamaute is a Professor of Nursing at Molloy College Barbara Hagan School of Nursing in Rockville Centre, New York. She has given numerous national and international presentations Dr. Lamaute has designed, developed and implemented numerous courses offered within the college curriculum: These courses include: Family nurse practitioner program- all courses, Genetics and Genomics: Implications for Nursing Practice, Leadership focus on global issues, Vulnerable Populations, Nursing Focus on the Post Katrina Environment: Homelessness and Humanism, Leadership and Management. She is past Chairperson American Nurses Association Individual Member Division. She is the President of the Board of Directors RotaCare- a free clinic for the uninsured in Uniondale New York. Yasuko Fukaya has engaged in education and research on gerontological nursing and home care nursing. Her research themes are the desirable communication between the elderly and the care staff and the effective way of support for the elderly ADL independence. In particular, her research on the elderly communication is garnering attention around the world. Shahid Sheikh an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I work at divisions of Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine in Department of Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus Ohio. My major interests are Pediatric Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis. I have published about 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and have been serving as co-editor in editorial board of seven peer-reviewed journals.

She worked as a research assistant at Hacettepe University School of Nursing in the Maternity and Women's Health Nursing Division from 1990 to 1997. She worked as a Co-Head of Nursing Department, Erasmus Department Coordinator, Head of Strategic Planning Group and board member of Hacettepe University Women’s Research and Implementation Center (HUWRICH) between 2009 and 2011. Dr. Glenda C. Walker assumed the position of Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences in August 2013. Dr. Walker has a BSN from Troy State University, an MSN from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Walker has held nursing education administrative positions since 1980. These include: Interim Director of the Mental Health MSN Program at Vanderbilt University; Associate Dean and Director of Nursing Graduate Nursing program at the University of North Dakota; Associate Dean of Clinical and Community Affairs at the School of Nursing, University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston, and Director of Nursing, Dewitt School of Nursing at Stephen F. Austin State University. Dr. Walker has received over $3,309,792 in state and federal funding for research and educational programs. Dr. Walker was the primary investigator (PI) on a $3,000,000 replication grant funded by the THECB. The grant involved 27 nursing programs throughout the state of Texas and focused on identification of “at risk” nursing students to provide appropriate interventions. The grant replicated and expanded the previous work of Dr. Walker with ten nursing program in East Texas that successfully developed a model for identifying and intervening with “at risk” students. Most recently, Dr. Walker received a grant from Methodist Healthcare Ministries (MHM) for $466,000 to increase nursing enrollment and is currently working on a multi-million dollar grant through MHM that includes 10 local agencies to address healthcare outcomes. Dr. Walker has published over 30 articles in peer reviewed journals. She has published chapters in nursing books. In 2013, Dr. Walker published her first book See Spot Run: Lessons for Life. The book uses metaphors about her family of Dalmatian dogs to illustrate psychiatric and spiritual principles for life. Dr. Walker has extensive experience in the role of a nursing education administrator. She has served as an education administrator in public, private, and health science center nursing programs. Dr. Walker has held nursing education administrative positions in the State of Texas for over 24 years. Dr. Walker was the Interim Director of the Graduate Mental Health Program at Vanderbilt University. While in that position, Dr. Walker developed the first specialty track to focus on family violence in the nation. Dr. Walker served as the Associate Dean and Director of the Graduate Program at the College of Nursing at the University of North Dakota. While serving as the Director of the Graduate Program, the program received continued accreditation for eight years and added a graduate rural health nursing track. While at UT-Houston Health Science Center, School of Nursing, Dr. Walker was Director of the Graduate Mental Health program and increased enrollment in the program by 300%.

Guy H Fontaine has made 17 original contributions in the design and the use of the first cardiac pace makers in the early 60s. He has serendipitously identified ARVD during his contributions to antiarrhythmic surgery in the early 70s. He has developed the technique of Fulguration to replace surgery in the early 80s (technique used during 30 years in Paris). He has been one of the 216 individuals who have made a significant contribution to the study of cardiovascular disease since the 14th century, one of the 500 greatest geniuses of the 21th Century (USA Books), one of the 100 Life Time Achievement (UK Book). He has more than 900 publications including 201 chapters in books.. He is the reviewer of 26 scientific journals both in basic and clinical science. He served as a member of the Editorial Board of Circulation for 5 years, after reviewing articles for this journal during decades. He has given 11 master lectures of 90 minutes each in inland China in 2014. He has recently developed new techniques of hypothermia for brain protection in OHCA and Stroke. This technique has been fortuitously used after resuscitation of his wife at home in June 2011 with absolutely no neurologic deficit despite 6 minutes of no flow. He has also invented a high-tech device which can be considered the ultimate in palliative care by preventing unexpectedly awaking after ordinary sleep. This device was mostly designed for major neurologic disorders.

Carla is doctorally prepared as a St. Louis University graduate with a research focus in diabetes. She is passionate about serving patients and embraces every encounter as an opportunity to learn and grow personally and professionally. As well as working in the field one day a week, Carla is the Vice President of Clinical Programs at Esse Health and serves on the Esse Health Community Outreach Committee. She also serves on the St. Louis ADA Board of Directors and is the Co-chair for the annual St. Louis ADA Step Out Walk to Fight Diabetes.

Michele Gatzert DNP, RN completed her DNP with Capella University, MSN and BSN at Webster University. She is the Clinical Nurse Manager of a Medical Intensive Care Unit of a large inner-city bed hospital where she is a compassion fatigue facilitator, emerging illness/Ebola team lead/program coordinator, and creator of the We Care Team. Dr. Valerie Dzubur is an Associate Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program at Samuel Merritt University (SMU), Oakland, California. Dr. Dzubur developed the Family Nursing course for both the online and face to face students at SMU in the FNP program in 2015. The course is built to address both the special needs of vulnerable groups and the shared needs of all families. Dr. Dzubur holds a degree as Doctor of Education (EdD) from the University of San Francisco in Organization Leadership. She is interested in the relationship between human fragility and our corresponding responsibility to each other.

Heather MacDonald has completed a Master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Toronto, Canada and a PhD at the University of Manchester in the UK. Currently, she is a Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick (Canada). Her doctoral work examined respite for parents who were caring for children who required complex care and this paper comes from that work.

The Asian Healthcare Leadership Awards of 2015 awarded her as Asia’s most influential healthcare professional of the year. She has held multiple posts in various capacities in the OBS/GYN society in UAE and is currently the Director of the IVF Board of the Ministry of Health of UAE. Dr. Awatif is the Chairperson of the Emirates Obs/Gyne & Fertility Forum (EOFF) and a regular speaker on U.A.E activities in mother and child health via media – television, radio, ladies association, universities etc. She has had many publications on polycystic ovaries and infertility.

Her research interest includes Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

She graduated in first place from Hacettepe University in 1989. She won the İhsan Dogramacı Superior Merit Award and Student Science Incentive Award. She earned her pilot’s license from Republic of Turkey Ministry of Transport. She studied about counseling on assisted reproductive techniques at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Reproductive Medicine Unit in United Kingdom on the British Council Research Scholarship. She earned a certificate in management and leadership in nursing. She is an active member of Thematic Network leadership work group. She studied as a research scholar at Kent State University College of Nursing in 2006 for 3 months. In 2007, she worked on a project named “Development of Leadership Skills in Nursing Doctoral Students” at University of Michigan Faculty of Nursing on an international research scholarship which was supported by International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing (INDEN) and Sigma Theta Tau and provided to only three people around the world every year. She worked as a research assistant at Hacettepe University School of Nursing in the Maternity and Women's Health Nursing Division from 1990 to 1997. She was promoted to assistant professor in 1998, associate professor in 2006 and professor in 2012. She worked as a Co-Head of Nursing Department, Erasmus Department Coordinator, Head of Strategic Planning Group and board member of Hacettepe University Women’s Research and Implementation Center (HUWRICH) between 2009 and 2011. Her interest subjects are sexuality and reproductive health and management and leadership. She is member of national and international nurse’s organizations such as INDEN and Sigma Theta Tau. She has been working as a Director of Nursing Services at Hacettepe University Hospitals since September 2012 and Founding Dean of Faculty of Nursing.

Viacheslav A. Lipatov is currently the General Director of MedTestInfo, a small innovative company under Kursk State Medical University and Professor of the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy of Kursk State Medical University, Kursk, Russia. He completed his graduation from Nodal, Tula Region and his post-graduation from Kursk State Medical University - Kursk, Russia. He did his post-doctoral studies at Kursk State Medical University, Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy, Kursk, Russia. He is the Chairman of the Kursk regional branch of Russian Union of Young Scientists, from 2007 to 2008 and Chairman of the Auditing Commission, from 2008 to present. He was the Head from 2007 to 2010 at Research and Innovation Center, Kursk State Medical University. He has 12 - 8 Patent inventions in progress, over 300 Scientific Publications and over 100 Participations in Scientific Conferences.

Development of new polymeric implants (prosthetic, gels, sutures, functional structures of multicomponent materials, coatings, materials with desired properties, etc.) in the experimental testing of preclinical studies; Experimental Morphology; Applied Sociology; Biomedical statistics and standardization; Scientific substantiation of national specifications in the construction of an innovative infrastructure for the university and research institutions in the region and Study of the role of young scientists in the development of economic innovations, developmental issues and methods to overcome obstacles.
