Biography
Dr. Kathryn Hoehn Anderson is a Professor and Director of the Center for Nursing Scholarship & Research at the School of Nursing at Georgia Southern University. She completed her PhD in nursing and family science and MSN-PMN at the Univeristy of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1993 and post-doctoral work at Univesity of Washington-Seattle. Dr. Anderson developed the Family Health System nursing model. She has published more than 30 papers in refereed journals and book chapters, has over 10 years of continuous funding from NIMHD (NIH), HRSA, and other foundations, and serves as co-chair of the standing IFNA Practice Committee.
Research Interest
Dr. Kathryn Hoehn Anderson was honored in 2007 by the American Psychiatric Nursing Association to receive the national Outstanding Educator Award in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing. Dr. Anderson is the developer of the family nursing theory, Family Health Systems Approach, used as foundational for health departments, texts, and in student dissertations and theses. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the International Family Nursing Association, American Psychiatric Nursing Association, Southern Nursing Research Society, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor, and ANA through state organization memberships. She presents her research nationally and internationally, is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, and serves as a consultant for family nursing practice nationally and internationally.
